Je me réveille pour m’endormir et ralentis mon réveil.
Je sens mon destin dans ce que je ne peux craindre.
J’apprends en allant là où je dois aller.

Nous pensons en ressentant. Qu’y a-t-il à savoir ?
J’entends mon être danser d’une oreille à l’autre.

De ceux qui sont si proches de moi, qui êtes-vous ?
Que Dieu bénisse le sol ! J’y marcherai doucement,
Et j’apprendrai en allant là où je dois aller.

La lumière prend l’arbre ; mais qui peut nous dire comment ?
Le ver humble monte un escalier en colimaçon ;
Je me réveille pour m’endormir et ralentis mon réveil.

La grande nature a autre chose à faire
pour vous et moi ; alors prenez l’air vif,
Et, charmant, apprenez en allant où aller.

Cette secousse me maintient stable. Je devrais le savoir.
Ce qui tombe est toujours. Et est proche.

The Waking

I wake to sleep, and take my waking slow.
I feel my fate in what I cannot fear.
I learn by going where I have to go.

We think by feeling. What is there to know?
I hear my being dance from ear to ear.

God bless the Ground! I shall walk softly there,

Great Nature has another thing to do

This shaking keeps me steady. I should know.
What falls away is always. And is near.
