2008 Paimpol Coco fete

The coco form Paimol celebrate this year its AOC (Guaranted Origin Name) 10th birthday, so here is a little extract of this fete.

The fete start this sunday morning at half past ten, arrived a little in advance, i search for the begining of the procession which would demonstrate in Paimool streets, in fact the beginning is at the opposite corner of the port, just the time to walk and i was in front of the demonstration. Subject always diffuclt to shoot, no pause during the show.

It is finally, at the end of the demonstartion, in front of the fete room, that i had some chance to shoot interesting panorama. This first one is about the Paimpol coco brotherhood, with his big master, Laurent Primot at the mike. Due to the shooting sequence, i couldn’t record his speech, so i put in ambiant sound a little interview made after:

After we go to the coco unloading, in order to start the pluck contest:

So, here is the contest, the candidates have 15 minutes to pluck a lot of coco, and respecting all the rule of the AOC, no leafs in the crate, etc.

The day continue, with a bad weather but i tried to shoot again the procession without success. A little delay for the children contest, the coco shell:

Another great moment of the day, the enthroning of 4 new members in the paimpol coco brotherhood, 2 farmers, Gérard Lemeur de Yllias et Jean-Yves Tilly de Lézardrieux, Maurice Goarin, president of paimpol coco union, and Jean-Yves de Chaisemartin, Paimpol mayor:

This report was very interesting, many meetings, ineresting reactions during shooting sequence. On the technical part, waiting my 8mm and 682B monopod, i work this day with a part of my Bilora monopod mounted on my Manfrotto tripod, better stability for the shooting sequence. I will receive the 682B this weeke for testing it during the 9th edition of Bout du Monde festival in Crozon.
