For Ed
The Fall/Winter 2020 collection is Victor Glemaud's interpretation of heritage and explores the idea of merging classicism and sophistication with playfulness and ease. Embracing a clean aesthetic while maintaining elements of color and stitch detailing, both at the core of his designs, Glemaud returns to the "slash" pattern from his first collection, as seen incorporated throughout: at the clavicle, breastplate, neckline or on the back of dresses.
Bold black and white stripe motifs on dresses, crop tops and pants, color blocking with saturated colors, like a red and pale purple two-toned reversible skirt, create graphic elements within each individual look. The color in a single look comes together with the "slash" pattern for a visually striking ensemble with an elegance reminiscent of Diahann Carroll as Dominique Deveraux in "Dynasty."
Knitwear focuses on natural yarns of merino, cotton cashmere and merino-cotton-ramie blend, in various stitch work, including Milano stitch. A mix of silhouettes include sweaters, crop tops, flared pants, skirts in varying lengths and long sleeve, sleeveless, one-shoulder and off-shoulder dresses integrating the "slash" pattern, and coats with snap closures. The looks, modeled by an inclusive cast celebrating gender and body-positivity, are accessorized with shaved mink turbans in collaboration with Saga Furs and inspired by his dear friend Camilla Stærk, as well as with classic old school Nike Tailwind sneakers.
"Fashion is a mood. With my first show I thought about the entire mood, from designing the clothes, the show space, the music and the accessories. It was all about comfort, warmth and sophisticated ease." - Victor Glemaud
The collection is currently available at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, ShopBop, Ssense, Moda Operandi, Ikram, Joan Shepp and Glemaud.com.
