One time won’t hurt and for once, i’ll review this book in English, mainly because it (unfortunately) does not exist in French yet and I have no idea if it will be translated and when.
Let me give you a bit of context : I have this American friend, her name is Vicki. She’s the kind of friend that left the US to spend a summer in Paris 8 years ago and never came back, the kind of friend I spent hours with at the coffee machine having philosophical debates, about -I hate to admit it- not so philosophical subjects. Her life sounds like an action movie to me : by day she’s an IT director, because amongst numerous qualities, she’s a geek ; by night she’s gotten a job whose description should be something like : « webmaster-chef-wife-entrepreneur-mother-blogger-and-of-course-writer ».
Obviously, she does not waste so much time on futile activities such as sleeping or eating or even go to the maternity when she has a baby (she took the subway to go to work the day she had her first baby because she « did not realize her waters had broken »- true story). Anyways, over the last year, she was a little bored between her work, her baby, her websites etc., she decided to write a book and so she did.
It’s called Confessions of a Paris Party Girl (and party, she knows better than anyone I know) and it’s her story : drinking too much bubbly. Meeting sappy Frenchmen who have girlfriends or are creeps or both. Encountering problème after problème with French bureaucracy. When newly-single party girl Vicki moved to Paris, she was hoping to taste wine, stuff her face with croissants, and maybe fall in love. Long-time blogger and semi-professional drinker, she recounts the ups and downs of her life in Paris. Full of sass, shamefully honest admissions, and situations that seem too absurd to be true…
You should buy it and read it, it’s funny, it’s cute, it’s about wine, love, friends and Paris and, most importantly, you’ll get to read about this particularly interesting secondary character (on p.153), that I personally find fascinating : myself. Just kidding ;-)

L’histoire :
Isabelle a 32 ans, un chihuahua nain prénommé Woody-Allen et une carrière d’actrice comparable à celle du Titanic : catastrophique.
