The Who #4 : 2004/?

Depuis 1999, les Who ont retrouvé une deuxième jeunesse, et rien désormais ne pourra les empêcher de continuer de jouer, ni même la mort de John Entwistle, maillon essentiel pourtant de la musique des Who.
En 2004, pour la compilation “Then & Now” les deux survivants des Who enregistrent deux nouveaux titres :
Real Good Looking Boy (Townshend-Creatore-Peretti-Weiss)
Old Red Wine (Townshend)

Peu après, les Who (avec Bundrick, Palladino et Starkey) démarrent une nouvelle tournée, annonçant la sortie prochaine d’un nouvel album, album qui sera maintes fois repoussé.
En 2005, les Who jouent au festival Live 8, accompagnés par Damon Minchella (basse) et Steve White (batterie).
Nouvelle tournée triomphale des Who début 2006, alors qu’un premier single “wire and glass” version courte, est extrait du futur album.
Inclus sur certaines versions du nouvel album, un nouveau live : “The Who Live At Lyon” enregistré le 17 Juillet 2006.

Analyse : est-ce un bon album?
Soyons clair, cet album n’est ni “Tommy” ni “Who’s Next”, mais ce n’est pas non plus “It’s Hard”.
“Endless Wire” est très certainement un excellent album, et Townshend a toujours autant de choses à dire, mais qu’attendre d’un nouvel album studio des Who?
Là est le problème.
Je serais curieux de savoir si les fans hardcore ont beaucoup écouté cet album ou comme moi, l’ont écouté une ou deux fois avant de le ranger définitivement dans la bibliothèque ?
Oui “Endless Wire” se laisse écouter, sans plus, comme un bon disque solo de Pete Townshend.
Non Entwistle et Moon ne sont plus là et c’est là toute la différence, car je doute que Daltrey et Townshend puissent faire mieux dans le futur.
Nouvelle tournée 2006/2007, toujours avec Simon Townshend, Rabbit, Palladino et Zak.
En 2007, nouveau rockumentaire exceptionnel sur les Who “Amazing Journey” et que je conseille aux fans.
2008 : les Who se préparent à une nouvelle tournée et un nouvel album....
