Often called " downtown Switzerland ", Zürich is the largest city of Switzerland located in the upper Swiss midlands. Nestling beside Lake Zürich with stunning views of the Swiss Alps, Zurich retains much of its 19th-century charm. Zurich is the capital of a canton of the same name that joined the Swiss Confederation in 1351. Most of the 380,000 residents speak a form of German called Schwyzerdütsch. A former seat of the Reformation, Zurich is a staunchly Protestant city. Zurich is also a major center of international finance; the headquarters of five major banks are on Bahnhofstrasse, in the heart of the city. Built between the wooded slopes of the Uetliberg and the Zurichberg, Zurich is split by the River Limmat. Paradeplatz is the hub of Zurich and the central tram interchange. The square is dominated by the 1876 mansion of Credit Suisse.
A small city of 140 000, Bern (Berne in French) is nonetheless the federal capital of Switzerland. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bern have barely changed since Middle Ages, preserving the original medieval street plan, with its arcades, street fountains and defensive towers. The river Aare almost encircles the old-town to form a steep-sided peninsula.
Turn of the century Château des Crayères, set in a 21-acre park, was the residence of the Pommery and de Polignac families (owners of Champagne Pommery) until 1983 when Gérard and Elyane Boyer turned it into a sumptuous 19-room hotel and restaurant. Gérard Boyer and his father won their first Michelin star in 1966, a second star in 1971 and a third star in 1979. Les Crayères is one of the top properties of Relais & Châteaux hotels. It is decorated in a most definite French flavor. The fabrics and furniture give the feeling of an authentic yet home-like and cozy château during a time of opulence.

The world headquarters of Nestle occupies, in Vevey, one of the most remarkable administrative buildings of French-speaking Switzerland. Completed in 1960, this major work of the architect Jean Tschumi was extended in 1975 by the architects Burckhardt and Brugger, which doubled its capacity. Thirty five years later, the obsolescence of the equipment as well as the evolution of the functional and technical requirements led to the in-depth restoration of the original building of Jean Tschumi. This step led to a more in-depth intervention aiming at reinforcing the unit and the coherence of the Center, with an aim of providing the workers of Nestle a more open, transparent and efficient working environment. In this operation, the architects Richter and Dahl Rocha had to combine various levels of intervention, from restoration to the creation of new elements, in a deep respect for the spirit of the architecture of Jean Tschumi. A classified monument of canton de Vaud, the building features a contemporary architecture staircase by Jean Tschumi mimicked after Leonardo Da Vinci staircase of the French castle Chambord.
