Thomas Rueckert has become new head of aircraft overhaul services at Lufthansa Technik. The 45-year-old industrial engineer has replaced Soeren Stark, who has been appointed to the Executive Board of Lufthansa Cargo as COO. In his new function Thomas Rueckert will lead the international overhaul network of Lufthansa Technik with eight sites in Europe, Asia and the Americas. "We're delighted to have secured Thomas Rueckert, an internationally experienced manager, for this complex role. He already has a proven track record in a very wide range of aircraft maintenance and overhaul activities and will be continuing the successful work of Soeren Stark," said Thomas Stueger, Chief Executive Products, Services & IT at Lufthansa Technik. Thomas Rueckert was latterly Vice President of the overhaul services production network, based in Hamburg. Since joining Aircraft Maintenance at Lufthansa Technik AG in Frankfurt in 1997, Rueckert has had various roles, including as Vice President Aircraft Maintenance at Lufthansa Technik Philippines and CEO at Shannon Aerospace. From 1990 to 1998, he studied industrial engineering in Darmstadt and managed his family's own company on a temporary basis. Lufthansa Technik's overhaul services product division is responsible for the overhaul and modification of Airbus and Boeing aircraft for commercial customers. It comprises sites in Germany, Ireland, Malta, Bulgaria, Hungary, Puerto Rico and the Philippines. Its remit covers layovers at C-check level and above. Around 5.500 employees work on more than 40 overhaul lines in the winter peak time, performing over 600 events per year.
