Far from the Madding Crowd (1874) is one of the first great novels of the English poet and novelist Thomas Hardy which is located in the Wessex, a partly real and partly imaginary country. Far from the Cannes crowd, Thomas Vinterberg ( Festen, The Hunt) signs a new adaptation of it with an ambitious cast: Carey Mulligan ( Drive, The Great Gatsby), Schoenaerts ( Bullhead, Rust and Bone), Michael Sheen ( The Queen, the series Master of Sex) and Tom Sturridge ( The Boat That Rocked, On the Road).
