R.I.P. Mingiedi Mawangu, founder and former leader of Konono No.1

Mingiedi Mawangu, membre fondateur du Congotronics combo Konono No.1 est décédé à l'âge de 85 ans.

Le groupe existe depuis la fin des années 1960, Mingiedi Mawangu qui jouait du likembé, était considéré comme un virtuose de ce piano à pouces.

Konono No.1, signé chez Crammed Discs, était un habitué de nos scènes nationales, ayant notamment sorti en 2007 l' album 'Live at Couleur Café'.

La firme de disque a publié cet hommage:

" Respect and gratitude for your invaluable contribution to music. The sound of Konono (which you largely contributed to creating) has inspired and influenced countless fans and musicians around the world. Our deepest sympathies to Augustin Mawangu and to the rest of the band and family."
