07 – New York Summer 2014 – Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds @ Hammerstein Ballroom

Comme je n’étais pas allée au concert de la veille, je me suis dit que je ferais la queue assez tôt pour le concert de New York. Celui-ci avait lui au Hammerstein Ballroom. A 10h30 j’arrive et je suis visiblement la deuxième sur place! Mes amis arrivent un peu plus tard, la longue attente commence. Il fait chaud, très chaud mais le temps passe finalement assez vite en discutant et rencontrant de nouveaux fans. L’ouverture des portes est toujours un peu bordélique mais on se retrouve quand même toutes au premier rang. Victoire! Vous vous en doutez le concert était fantastique. Belle setlist, et Nick Cave et le groupe a vraiment donné le maximum d’eux-mêmes pour chaque chanson. Super contente d’avoir enfin pu entendre Sad Waters en live! Une des chansons préférées.

Since I had skipped the previous day concert, I thought I’d queue early for the NY one. It was taking place at the Hammerstein Ballroom. At 10:30am I am obviously the second one there. My friends arrived a bit later, and then the long wait starts. It’s hot, very hot but time goes by kinda quickly when you are chatting and meeting new dans. The doors open, always a bit of a mess, but we manage to be all front row! I don’t need to tell you, the concert was amazing. nice setlist, and Nick Cave & the band really gave 110% for each song. I am also super happy that they did Sad Waters! One of my favourite songs that I was dying to hear live.

Le concert se termine, j’avoue je suis épuisée. J’hésite à aller à la “stage door” car je n’ai pas envie d’attendre comme à Paris… 3h d’attente et malheureusement on l’avait loupé. Mes amies insistent, je craque, on passe par le parking d’à côté et on se retrouve à la sortie arrière… Moment surréaliste Nick Cave est tranquille assez sur une chaise en train de fumer sa cigarette. On lui laisse quelques minutes, ils signent pour d’autres personnes et puis vient vers notre petit groupe: “Hey girls! How are you doing?” Cela se passe très vite, j’ai du sortir une phrase lol mais bon il est encore très différent d’assister à un concert au premier rang, et de se retrouver dans la rue à côté d’un artiste que l’on admire depuis des années! En tout cas encore un grand merci à mes amies qui m’ont aidées à réaliser un des mes rêves. :)

The concert ends, I admit I am exhausted. I am hesitant to go the stage door because I don’t want to wait like Paris… 3h and unfortunately we had missed him. My friends insist, I cave in, we go through the parking lot and we are at the back entrance… It was kinda surreal as Nick Cave was sitting outside smoking a cigarette. We wait a few minutes, he signs for other fans and finally comes toward us: “Hey girls! How are you doing?” It goes quickly, I probably managed one sentence lol but there is a big difference between being front row at a concert and being in the middle of a streer next to an artist you have admired for year! Again thank you to my friends for making this dream happen. :)
