05 – New York Summer 2014 – Empire State Building – Macy’s

Vendredi j’ai été échanger mon voucher pour un pass de 72h en bus City Sights NY. Alors je suis un peu mitigée pour ces bus. A la base je pensais les utiliser pour me déplacer d’un endroit à l’autre mais je me suis vite rendue compte qu’avec la circulation j’allais aller plus vite à pied. Par contre ils sont très bien si vous voulez faire le circuit complet une première fois sans vous arrêter. Ici je l’ai pris jusqu’à l’Empire State Building mais la guide n’était vraiment pas terrible. Peu d’explications et ne signalait pas vraiment les arrêts. Du coup je suis sortie un arrêt trop tôt! lol

On Friday I exchanged my voucher for a 72h bus pass from the company City Sights NY. I have mixed feelings about this bus. At first I wanted to use it to go from one place to another but I quickly realized that with the traffic it’d go faster by foot. But they are great if you want to do the full tour without stepping out. I took it to the Empire State Building but the guide wasn’t great. She didn’t clearly mention the stops. It was so bad that I actually go out when stop earlier! lol

Arrivée vers 10h il y avait déjà pas mal de monde pour l’ESB. Je pense que ça a mis presque 1h entre le moment où j’ai reçu mon ticket, passé la sécurité, fait la file, pris la photo souvenir et l’arrivée au sommet. Une fois en haut la vue est assez impressionnante mais pas facile de se frayer un passage avec le monde et ceux qui veulent prendre 10000 selfies!

Around 10am the queue was already pretty big for the ESB. It probably took me 1h before I was on top. You have to get your ticket, queue, take the souvenir picture and then queue some more to take the lift. Once on top the view is pretty breathtaking but a bit spoiled by the crowd trying to take a thousand selfies!

Une fois la visite terminée j’avais prévu de passez l’après-midi à faire du shopping. Finalement en 2h-3h j’avais fait le tour. Le Macy’s m’a vraiment déçue. Il est immense mais aucun coup de coeur que ce soit niveau vêtements ou accessoires. Je suis passée par une boutique qui s’appelle Strawberries aussi. Un peu cheap, il faut chercher mais j’ai trouvé une maxi jupe avec un bel imprimé.

Once I’d finished visiting the ESB I had planned to spend the afternoon shopping. After 2h-3h I was done. Macy’s was kinda disappointing. It’s huge but I fell in no love with no clothes or accessories. I just swung by a shop called Strawberries. A bit cheap, you have to search for a while but I found a maxi skirt with a nice print.

Je n’avais prévu aucun spectacle le soir mais comme je suis rentrée plus tôt que prévu, je suis passée me prendre un ticket pour Rock of Ages au Helen Hayes Theatre. J’avais loupée la comédie musicale à Londres, et ayant adoré le film, j’avais vraiment envie de la voir. J’ai passé vraiment un bon moment… Que des hits rock des années 80, des acteurs formidables et une ambiance vraiment géniale!

I hadn’t planned any show but since I got to my hotel earlier than planned, I got a ticket for Rock of Ages at the Helen Hayes Theatre. I had missed it in London, and I absoluetly loved the movie, so I really wanted to see it. I had a really good… The show is full of classic rock songs, the actors are fantastic and it was just plain fun!
