Plateau éclectique pour cette soirée Balades Sonores, entre folktronica et rock psyché en passant par le pop-rock. L’occasion d’aller faire quelques découvertes en profitant de superbe son du Divan du Monde.
J’arrive dans la salle alors que les anglaises d’Haiku Salut viennent d’entamer leur set. Trois filles en mode autiste avec une flopée d’instruments (ukulélé, clavier, xylophone, accordéon…), quelques boucles, quelques beats et c’est parti pour mélanger tout ce qui leur tombe sous la main. Un peu de folk, des pièces à la Yann Tiersen, voir bruitiste par moment ("C’est n’importe quoi, c’est génial"), assez sympathique.

Résultat, on gagne en profondeur ce que l’on perd en intimité. Différente, plus rock, je n’en suis pas totalement certain mais je pense avoir préféré cette version groupe à la version solo.

Les toulousains débarquent à six sur la scène pour étendre encore un petit peu le grand écart musical de la soirée. Un très gros son (sans pour autant être les moins fins), mur de guitares qui bourdonnent, riffs stoner hypnotiques et chant plongé dans la reverb’. De longs morceaux d’un psychédélisme tortueux, oscillant entre la traversée de plaines désertiques et les explosions de guitares. Le public finira même par onduler sur les rythmes lancinants. Tout bonnement excellent, à revoir.

Je n’avais pas particulièrement prêté attention à eux, navigant visiblement plutôt dans les eaux de la chanson française, j’aurais peut-être dû. En fait on penche plutôt vers la coldwave (avec d’ailleurs une reprise de Trisomie 21), tendance gentillette tout de même. A noter un groove énorme, porté notamment par l’excellent bassiste, et son tout aussi excellent son de basse. La chanteuse assure elle aussi parfaitement, que ce soit en français ou en anglais. Un bon moment, même si les blagues inter-titres finissaient par être assez lourdes.

Bon, là on rigole plus, c’est super carré, mais c’est aussi super plat… Ça manque d’âme, c’est déjà entendu, et en plus les mecs posent (j’ai été prendre une bière lorsque le guitariste est venu offrir son solo au public). Tout n’est pas pour autant à jeter, il y a quelques relents d’Editors pas désagréables, mais là c’était trop pour moi.
