The world-renowned makeup artist, Charlotte Tilbury has launched her makeup collection in September 2013 exclusively at Selfridges and online at www.charlottetilbury.com.
I was unfortunately on a business trip on the day she launched it at Selfridges and couldn't make it to the long queue outside to get my hands on the makeup.
However, I did go afterwards and I must say that I had easily an hour trying and testing the makeup on the back of my hand.
At first I wanted to go for only a lipstick.... but I ended up with the following:
I had to stop myself from testing as I would have succumbed to other bits and pieces!
My first choice was inevitably the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Love Bite Lipstick! It's a gorgeous radiant orangy red colour. As you know, I am not a lip pencil person, but recently, I have been using lip liners especially when I was at the beauty seminars or press conferences. A lot of talking usually make your lipstick fade and the lip liner before, on the lip contour and blended onto the lips, make the lipstick stay much longer.
I have to admit that it took me quite a while to decide whether to get the lip liner or not, but eventually, I went for the matching color - Kiss N'Tell Lip Cheat Liner.
How I like the lip products?
I LOVE the lipstick! The colour is rich and intense as it glides smoothly on the lips with a deep moisturising finish. It is long-lasting but you do have to apply after a few hours if you want to have a perfectly red pout. The lip liner is the perfect match and its soft-tip makes it easy to define the lips.
I have opted for the Dolce Vita eyeshadow palette as it was the one that appealed the most to me for this Autumn. These colours can be easily used any time and mixed with each other or with brighter colours that I already have.
The intensely sparkling brown colour on the lower left-hand side can be applied using your fingertip thanks to its creamy-powdery texture. It is more intense applied as such.
I would use it for a more sophisticated night makeup just in the middle of the eyelid as the last touch of the eye makeup.
I already have so many products of all sorts for the complexion (BB Creams, CC Creams, Foundation, Tinted Moisturisers, Serum Foundation ... you name it). However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by Charlotte Tilbury's foundation. It has a light texture that blends in the skin very easily, leaving a dewy finish. It has light coverage but which is buildable to a medium one.
It reminds me a lot of YSL Teint Touche Eclat Foundation in terms of texture and finish.
During Autumn and Winter time, I wouldn't actually powder on top, except on the T-Zone for combination skin as it leaves the complexion beautifully dewy.
The blusher has been the biggest surprise for me! When I first saw this colour "First Love", I told the salesgirl there that it would be too pale for me. I was used to darker and more orangy colour. She assured me that she had tried it on similar skin tone as me and that it looked great.
I was quite dubious but was ready to give it a try. After she swished the brush on the outer shade, she applied it on my cheekbone and popped the middle shade on the apple on my cheek.
I looked at myself in the mirror, not expecting much... but I LOVE IT!
It was a very natural colour... as if I've run a mile in open air and have got this radiant and naturally flushed effect on my cheeks. I felt that it would become one of my favourite products which I'd be carrying in my handbag! :) And I can confirm that it is indeed the case!
Last but not least, I had been given "Charlotte's Magic Cream - Treat & Transform Moisturiser SPF 15" as a gift for all my purchase. :) It has been the buzz among makeup artists and bloggers.
So what is it exactly?
Charlotte has been testing it backstage for years. It's a secret mix of patented anti-age ingredients, a hyaluronic acid booster and floral extracts that lift and transform tired skin in an instant! She says to think of a wilting flower that has just been watered. Likewise, the skin is flooded with moisture for a glowing complexion in a flash, no matter how dehydrated and lacklustre it may look.
This magic cream also contains a mix of rose hip oil, camellia oil and vitamin E for intense hydration and protection against free radicals.
What I love about this cream?
Its fresh and relaxing fragrance...
It has Damask Rose water and extracts of Frangipani for a soothing action.
I also like the rich texture which brings hydrating comfort-blanket on the skin.
However, I feel that it might be a little too rich for oily skin and for those living in tropical hot countries.
Conclusion:
I really like the products which I have purchased ... all of them actually.
I had been waiting for her collection to come out and it's just perfect! Up to expectations!
The packaging of her lipsticks reminds me of an old lipstick that I have from Tom Ford when he launched a limited edition for Estée Lauder. However the colour was a yellow gold. I much prefer Charlotte's one.
I hope you've enjoyed reading this post!
See you! xoxo
