Après nous avoir fait languir pendant plus d’un an, Chopstick et Johnjon remettent enfin le couvert pour nous faire mieux zoner en short et claquettes. Il y a un peu plus d’une semaine, ils dévoilent les prémices de leur nouvel album avec un EP intitulé Roots. Comme son nom l’indique, l’EP marque un retour aux sources deep-house, qui se traduit autant par des synthés aquatiques que des percussions dansantes, soufflant des airs d’été pour des open airs ensoleillés. Mais quelle est cette voix douce harmonisant l’alternative mix ? C’est celle de Chris James, alias Signajacker, un des membres du groupe anglais alterno-electro-trip hop Stateless. Tout ça signé sur le label Suol (oui, le même que Fritz Kalkbrenner) avec qui Signaljacker n’aurait pas fini de travailler. Une affaire à suivre, donc…

After at least a year’s worth of anticipation, Chopstick and Johnjon are finally set to return and make us shake more than ever. With a little more than a week left, they’ve began to unveil the beginnings of their newest album with the EP entitled Roots. As its name suggests, the EP marks a return to their deep-house roots, reflected by both the addition of aquatic synths and dancing percussions, the perfect tracks to take off a sunny days open air.
