Tout n’est qu’Acid
Tel Saint Michel terrassant le démon, Acid Pauli lutte contre la misère musicale et rempli ce devoir avec assiduité. Il fait le travail qu’il aime, et on aime le travail qu’il fait. Les synthé couinent, les basses vont crescendo, et un profond amour pour lui et sa musique se manifeste sur nos muscles faciaux.
Petit rappel pour les écoliers distraits, ou encore pour les cerveaux débilités par des orgies permanentes: le vrai nom d’Acid Pauli est Martin Gretschmann. Mais vous le connaissez peut-être sous le nom de AC/DC Pauli, Homepauli, Kevin&Paul;, Kevin, Gretschmann, Tatzen Paule, Console ou encore Martin Console. Pourquoi? Parce que chaque nouvelle collaboration appelle un nouveau nom. Explications
Acid Pauli, c’est avant tout une substance chimique à part entière, qui mixe l’electro à sa manière [I see the Darkness]. Mais l’Acid aime aussi se concentrer dans de nouvelles expériences. Tant mieux, car sa musique réagit et fusionne parfaitement avec celle de ses copains DJs. Après distillation, on trouve aussi bien des mix tech-house comme Ibang que des sons sensuels comme Eulogy to Eunice.
Ses diverses associations par liaisons musicales sont difficiles à répertorier, mais essayons tout de même.
En 1989, il créé The Notwist, un groupe indie rock avec Andreas Haberl, Max Punktezahl, Markus et Micha Acher [Pick up the phone]. En 2000, c’est Toxic qui voit le jour avec l’aide d’Axel Fischer, Christian Schröcker, Matthias Laub et Michael Schwaiger. Enfin, en 2003, Acid Pauli et les membres de Notwist collaborent avec les hip-hopesques Themselves pour former 13&God.;
Depuis les années 90, Acid Pauli a également croisé le chemin d’Andreas Ammer, de Nu & Joke (comment oublier Who Loves the Sun, le mix deep-house qui nous emmène tout droit vers un open air ensoleillé?)
Côté labels, notre électron libre a joué pour Bar 25 (label indépendant issu du club mythique Bar 25 ex-temple de l’électro Berlinoise), Katermukke (label du Katerholzig), Clown and Sunset (le label du délicieux Nicolas Jaar) et Crosstown Rebels. En 2006, il produit pour Smaul, son label créé en coopération avec Doxa et For God Consoul Crew (Hometrainer et Fc shuttle). C’est une rupture notable dans sa carrière marquée par un retour franc aux racines electro-Berlinoises à écouter intégralement sur ici.
C’est donc un paysage musical connu mais agrandi par ces nombreuses expériences qui s’offre à nous. « De la variété » comme Pauli dit, mais une variété riche, complexe et donc plus intense qu’une simple electro-pop. Du krautock (disons un proche cousin du rock et de la musique électronique) à la techno psychédélique, tout est bon à mixer.
Acid, c’est une petite pilule souriante qui émoustille nos oreilles, réveille notre esprit, et le tient en suspens toute la nuit. A nous le son qui monte, descend et coule si bien dans nos veines. Ce son dont on fait un usage d’abord fréquent, puis quotidien, pour finalement tomber dans l’addiction la plus totale…

A little reminder for distracted students, or debilitated brains from constant raving: the man behind the pseudonym Acid Pauli is Martin Gretschmann. But you also may know him as AC/DC Pauli, Homepauli, Kevin&Paul;, Kevin, Gretschmann, Tatzen Paule, Console and Martin Console. And why so many? Because each and every collaboration he’s done he’s entitled himself to a new alias. Acid Pauli, is like a full-fledged chemical substance, mixed with electro in a style entirely his own [I see the Darkness]. But Acid also loves to focus on new experiences and opportunities. So much the better, because his music reacts and combines perfectly with that of his fellow DJs. After distillation, there’s a clear differentiation between his tech-house mixes like Bangbang from that of the more sensual sounds found within Eulogy to Eunice. It’s difficult to figure out all the diverse associations by musical connection, but try and take a shot at it. This was a significant break in his career marked by a return back to his Frankish Berlin-electro roots, lend ear tohttp://www.smaulmusic.de/Taunus. It’s a musical landscape known but enlarged by the many experiences made available to us. « Of the variety » as Pauli said himself, but a variety which is rich, complex, and with such depth, that it doesn’t do justice to simply coin it as electro-pop. It’s krautock (say a close cousin of rock and electronic music) to psychedelic techno, and it’s all good when mixed. Acid, is a smiling little pill which tantalizes our ears, awakens our mind, and holds us in suspense throughout the night. For us the sound rises, descends, and flows smoothly through our veins. This is done with its first frequent use, then daily, then eventually the cycle falls into a complete addiction… More sound ! Don’t panic, Délicieuse Musique will never leave you empty handed.
