P-Square showing off what looks like Ghana's 'Azonto' in the 'Alingo' video

Ghanaian dancehall artiste, Emmanuel Samini, known on stage as Samini has taken a swipe at Nigerian music duo P-Square for their hit song Alingo, insisting the song and dance bore too much resemblance with Azonto.
P-Square’s Alingo released some months ago has enjoyed massive airplays across Africa, including Ghana, and has over three million views on Youtube.

In the video of P-Square song, the duo and their dancers appear to be replicating dance steps popularly used in Azonto. They sing “Girl you got me dancing Alingo” while showing off the identical steps of the Ghanaian dance craze.

Samini’s version of the song, recorded with P-Square’s Alingoinstrumental, released Monday criticizes the Nigerian duo for stealing the Ghanaian dance craze, Azonto and naming it Alingo.

In the song, the MOBO award winning act sings: “The name sounds like Azonto, the dance kinda looks like Azonto so try show me what I don’t know…I see that you dancing Azonto so what is Alingo?”
Apart from Samini, some Ghanaian pundits have also criticized the way Nigeria artistes are marketing Azonto as their dance craze. Nigerian artiste, Wizkid has also released a song, Azonto which is enjoying massive airplays across Africa.
A Ghanaian musician, who does not want to be named, in an interview with Myjoyonline.com expressed displeasure over Wizkid’s performance at the Hope City Concert which was headlined by Chris Brown at the Accra Sports Stadium on March 5.
The artiste wondered why the Nigerian musician will be flown from Nigeria to come and sing his Azonto song and dance Azonto on stage to the detriment of Ghanaian artistes who own the dance crazy.
