Night masks… at first I was sceptical because I found them pointless. But this was before. That’s why I decided to talk to you about these two masks that, for me, acquired a real place in my monthly skincare routine.
- Drink Up Intensive – Origins (23 euros)
Well, first important thing, the smell of this mask is incredible (unless you don’t like fruity smells). The primary purpose of this mask is to quench skin’s thirst, or in a simpler way to deeply hydrate it. So, I apply it half an hour before I go to bed leting time to the product, which has a creamy texture, to penetrate. But don’t expect the product to completely sink in. Indeed, you’ll quickly get glued to your pillow, unless you sleep on your back (which is impossible for me). So there’s a little negative point there, but nothing unsurmountable, especially when you’ll see your face the next morning. Once in front of the miror at the awakening, the mask is completely absorbed, my skin is plump, soft and hydrated. The glycerin plant, the hyaluronic acid and the apricot kernel oil did a great job since my skin is refreshed and deeply nourished. The avocado oil, the mango butter and the japanese seaweed, however, ensure the continuing proccess of hydration thus contributing to prevent future moisture loss. If you have a dehydrated skin, I can only advise you to try out this mask.
- Masque Source de Nuit – Sampar (39 euros)
This mask stands out from the Drink Up Intensive particularly because of its smell, which is really typical from the brand Sampar. I don’t know how to describe the smell, but it isn’t fruity at all, it’s leans towards roses I would say. It also different in practise since you use it with a brush which I find really handy. You only need to activate the tube on ON and apply a thin layer of product, the feeling beying really refreshing. You musn’t forget to place the tube in the OFF position after use and wash it with lukewarm water. Finally, it has a gel-creamy texture that once applied on the skin is invisible. Let’s go in the more important details. This masks directly sinks into the skin, so there isn’t any sticky sensation when you go to bed, you don’t even feel it. The next morning, my skin, which is combination, has completely absorbed the product, hydrating my dry patches without making my T-zone shiny or greasy. I find my skin to be softer and smoother. I wouldn’t say that the result is incredible, but I really find my skin nicer the next morning !
- Conclusion
So the fatal question is: do you really need night masks? Personally, I’ll say yes, they are really handy, and I’d even say that they help gain some time while resting. You only need to apply the mask, go to sleep, and the next morning your skin is at its best! Of course, you could easily settle for a simple daily hydration, but well it’s great to rely on products that will act during our sleep sparing us the troubles due to rich creams that will make our T-zone shine starting from midday (at least for me).
Concerning these two masks, I love them both. I have a slight preference for the Sampar in the application since the brush is really handy and above all it doesn’t stick, while to sleep ‘quietly’ with the Drink Up Intensive is more complicated. But I much prefer the smell of Origins mask, you have the feeling to be in holiday in the Caribbean when you apply it. Concerning the effective results, I’m more convinced by the Drink Up Intensive that plumps and really nourrishes my skin, but the Sampar one also does a great job of hydration. I generally use the Drink Up Intensive once a month, when a really feel a need of hydration because I don’t really like beying stick to my pillow when I sleep ! And I use approximately once a week the So Much to Dew Midnight Mask since it has the advantage not to stick.
Have you already tried one of these night masks, or another of that kind ?
