Didier Drogba voted best Chelsea player ever by club's fans. Didier Drogba left Stamford Bridge as a Chelsea legend during the summer transfer window, and his place in Blues history has been assured after being voted the club's finest ever player.
The 34-year-old's final act as a Chelsea player was to slot home the winning penalty in the dramatic shootout triumph over Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena, which ensured the Blues won their first ever Champions League title.
Drogba departed Chelsea for Shanghai Shenhua following the expiration of his contract at the end of the last season, boasting a Blues record of 157 goals in 341 games during eight glorious years at the club.
During his time with Chelsea, Drogba won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups and two Community Shields plus, of course, the European Cup in May.
Drogba's achievements with Chelsea have now been recognised by the club's supporters, who rate him higher than the likes of Frank Lampard and Peter Osgood as the Blues' best ever.
"Thanks to all the fans who voted for me, I feel really honoured and proud as so many big players have been at the club before me and also at the same time as me," Drogba posted onTwitter.
"To be voted along side these big names is an absolute privilege for me, it really is.
"When I joined the club, I came to play my part. I am really happy to have been a part of Chelsea history and to get this award is amazing!"
