The Pirelli Calendar and me
I have already talked about the Pirelli calendar many times before and I use it every month to do the blog calendar... so just imagine my surprise when Fedex knocked on the door to deliver a very special parcel... Yes, really ! I have a calendar !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Along with a little note of apology for the late delivery, my birthday being in February. I must say my admirers will never cease to amaze me...
Just so people don't think I'm OTT with my obsession with the calendar, I surfed the web and found a note by Coco in her blog ''fashion trends''. She says : ''The crème de la crème of the models currently in vogue have been immortalised in the 2008 edition of the much sought-after Pirelli calendar. Being in itself a moment of art, consecration, aestheticism and snobbery, the calendar or ''Cal'' as it is nicknamed by intimates, is one of those things that seems priceless and which would much rather be offered free of charge to those who matter in the world, than to sell itself off to each and everyone or be degradingly traded against money.
Nonetheless, let's keep our feet on the ground : although one can catch a glimpse of the ''Cal'' on the web, getting to hold one in one's very own hands is far from being everyone's lot. Because Pirelli make it a point of honour to consider the annual publishing of the calendar as a pure moment of luxury reserved for a happy few considered to be the best of the best worldwide. Those who get a copy can therefore boast that they are viewed as the current fashionable elite....''
So you see, I am not being big-headed, in Coco's words : I am just part of the current fasionable elite....
