Davido, la nouvelle sensation pop du Nigeria

« Sur le beat … Sur le beat c’est Davido ! » C’est ainsi que s’introduit habituellement, la nouvelle sensation afropop tout droit venue du Nigéria. Wanda People, voici Davido !

Davido (né David Adeleke) est un artiste et un producteur de musique nigérian, né à Atlanta, GA, USA le 21 Novembre 1993 de M. et Mme Adeleke (Deji Adeleke est un milliardaire nigérian). Ayant voyagé entre les Etats-Unis, le Royaume-Uni et le Nigeria, Davido a connu différentes cultures, mais est toujours resté fidèle à ses racines et cela se ressent dans sa musique. Les personnes qu’il considère comme ses plus grandes influences musicales sont Don Jazzy, 2 Face idibia, Sound Sultan and Wande Coal.

Bien qu’il ait commencé la musique professionnellement il y a seulement un an, Davido se produit et fait de la musique depuis l’âge de 11 ans. Maintenant âgé de 19 ans, il a crée un label de musique appelé HKN Music, détenu conjointement avec Ade, son frère aîné. Le dicton: «Si tu veux quelque chose, fais-le toi-même» est ce qui a conduit les frères à fonder ce label, Davido estimant qu’en tant qu’artiste et producteur, il serait dans la meilleure position pour créer une musique qui convient à son style. Il rappelle tout de même rapidement qu’il serait très heureux de travailler avec Sarz, Jaysleek et / ou Don jazzy.

Dans un court laps de temps, Davido a réussi à mobiliser une base de fans énorme (14 à 28 ans) au Nigeria, Etats-Unis et au Royaume-Uni. En effet, le premier single du jeune talent, « Back When » feat. Naeto C, a connu un énorme succès dans les médias, Internet, à la radio et à la télévision. Ainsi, en peu de temps, Davido a pris le public d’assaut avec Dami Duro, devenant ainsi l’une des chansons les plus diffusées dans les boîtes de nuit et les radios au Nigéria.

Sans perdre de temps, Davido et son équipe, en collaboration avec Clarence Peters, sortent un clip du tonnerre, qui fait fait le buzz partout sur la toile, les chaînes de télé, Youtube, et est désormais considéré comme l’un des meilleurs clips nigérian.

Armé de talent, aujourd’hui Davido est apprécié par les rois de la musique nigériane tels que D’banj et Don Jazzy, ainsi que des nouvelles superstars Wizkid et Ice Prince. Il a également signé un contrat multi-millionnaire avec MTN depuis avril et est devenu le visage de MTN Pulse.

En juillet dernier, était lancé son premier album «Omo Baba Olowo – La Genèse», confirmant que l’enfant naija est là pour rester !

Davido (born David Adeleke) is a performing and recording artist and also a music producer, born in Atlanta GA, USA on November 21st to Mr. And Mrs. Adeleke (Deji Adeleke is a nigerian billionnaire). Travelling between the USA, the UK and Nigeria, Davido has experienced different cultures but still stays true to his roots and this is evident in his music and the people he considers his biggest influences musically, which include Don Jazzy, 2 Face idibia, Sound Sultan and Wande Coal.

Though Davido started music professionally a year ago, he has been performing and making music since the age of 11. Now 19, he has set up a record label called HKN Music, jointly owned by Davido and Ade, his older brother. The saying “If you want something done, do it yourself” is what led the brothers start the label as Davido believes that as a producer and recording artist, he would be in the best position to create music that suits his style. He is however quick to mention that he would definitely be excited to work with Sarz, Jaysleek and/or Don Jazzy.

In a short space of time, Davido has developed a huge fan base (14 to 28 year olds) in Nigeria, the US and the UK and the young fresh talent’s first  single “Back When” featuring Naeto C, has enjoyed massive media attention and airplay online, on radio and TV. Within no time Davido took the public by storm when he released Dami Duro, becoming a leading club song as well as one of radios most played.

Without wasting much time, Davido and his management team, in collaboration withClarence Peters, put together a first-class, never seen before type video, to back up the banger, Dami Duro. Not only did this video create major buzz around websites, TV stations and Youtube, but was also said to be one of the best videos out of Nigeria.

Being armed with such talent, today Davido is endorsed by the likes of nigerian music kingsD’banj and Don Jazzy, as well as new superstars Wizkid and Ice Prince. He also signed a multi-millionaire deal with MTN last april and became the face of MTN pulse.

In past july, was launched his debut album « Omo Baba Olowo – The Genesis », confirming that the naija kid is there to stay !
