Un Anniversaire Chocolaté et un peu Francais

A Chocolatey and Slightly French Birthday
 Je travaillais le jour de mon anniversaire, Hubby aussi. Du coup je me suis contentée d'un bon petit déjeuner en m'offrant un Biscuit a la saucisse végétarienne et un scone amandes-abricots de West End Bakery. Ca valait bien le petit tour a vélo dans la bruine.
I was working for my birthday and so was Hubby. So I just treated myself to a good breakfast by getting a veggie sausage biscuit and an almond-apricot scone from West End bakery. It was worth ridding my bike in the (light) rain.
Bon forcement être au travail pour son anniversaire ce n'est pas toujours marrant. Sauf quand on a les collègues que j'ai. J'ai en effet lance le défi a l'un de nos agents de sécurité de me trouver un gâteau d'anniversaire (il s'ennuyait). J'aurais eu mieux fait de me taire (bon non en fait). Car il est revenu avec une énorme part de gâteau au chocolat accompagnée de fruits frais et d'un Happy Birthday en chocolat écrit sur l'assiette. Le tout en direct de la cuisine. Comment ne pas avoir le sourire au travail après ça?
J'avais prévenu Hubby qu'il aurait du mal a battre ca, mais il a bien joue en rajoutant a ma dose de chocolat a coup de cupcakes chocolat-framboise.
Of course being at wokr on your birthday isn't all that fun. Except when you work with my colleagues that is. I challenged one of our security agents to find me a birthday cake (he was bored). I should have been quiet (well ok that would be a lie). He came back with a huge slice of chocolate cake with fresh fruits and Happy Birthday written in chocolate on the plate. All straight from the hotel's kitchen. How not to smile after that? I warned Hubby it might be hard to beat, but he did pretty good adding up to my chocolate share with a raspberry-chocolate cupcake.

We made up for it by going out on a date Friday with a touch of French food.
Nous avons teste la Creperie Bouchon qui est rattachee au restaurant français de la ville. Le restaurant est principalement en extérieur dans une jolie cour.
We tried the Creperie Bouchon which is part of the one French restaurant of town. The restaurant is mostly outside in a charming courtyard.
Nous nous sommes régalés d'une salade de fromage de chèvre, betteraves et pommes.
We started with a wonderful salad of goat cheese, beets and apples.
J'ai choisi la crêpe Toulousaine au canard confit, chèvre, oignons caramélises et champignons. Hubby a choisi une crêpe a la roquette, chèvre et oignons.
I picked the Toulouse crêpe with duck confit, goat cheese, caramelized onions and mushrooms. Hubby had one with arugula, goat cheese and onions.
Après ça nous sommes allés voir le dernier film de Wes Anderson: Moonrise Kingdom. Un charmant film, juste un tantinet bizarre mais surtout rafraichissant.
After that we went to see the lastest Wes Anderson: Moonrise Kingdom. A charming and quirky movie that was very refreshing.
Bon je vous ait dit que j'avais eu un anniversaire chocolaté. Je ne rigolait pas. Nous avons finit la soirée a la French Broach Chocolate Lounge. Un chocolat chaud a la ganache Indian Kulfi: rose, pistache, cardamome et chocolat au lait. C’était bon mais je préfère les versions au chocolat noir. Et avec ça une part de gâteau au chocolat a l'huile d'olive. Un vrai régal.
So I told you I had a chocolatey birthday. I wasn't kidding. We ended the night at the French Broad Chocolate Lounge. A hot chocolate with Indian Kulfi ganache: rose, pistachio, cardamom and milk chocolate. Good but I like the dark chocolate ones better. And a slice of Theros oil and chocolate cake. Delicious.
Un bon anniversaire quoi. Maintenant il ne me reste plus qu'a me mettre au régime.
A great birthday it was. Now I just need to get on a diet.
