J'ouvre cette séquence de News avec une news sur Kresley Cole, connue en France pour sa série Les Ombres de la Nuit, paru aux édition J'ai Lu collection Crépuscule. Elle va bientôt faire paraître une série dérivée de cette saga, The Dacians : Realm of Blood and Mist, dont le premier tome Shadow's Claim devrait sortir pour le 21 août prochain. Why it’s a Paranormal Pick: I will admit that I haven’t read the first book in this series yet, but I saw this and decided to add it immediately after seeing that it involved a vampire chef.  The concept just seemed so oddly quirky and I hope it’s as amusing as I think it will be based on the description and cover.  Also it’s a combination of two genres I really enjoy: murder mysteries and urban fantasy.   #11 Discount Armageddon (Incryptid, #1) by Seanan McGuire

The cover is really cool looking and I am secretly fascinated by cryptozoology so I’m quite excited about this book. Hopefully Nessie (aka the Loch Ness Monster) is in it somehow! I also wonder what type of reality show Verity was on? Perhaps something akin to Dancing with the Stars or Big Brother?

Gray’s Anatomy was never like this… Why it’s a Paranormal Pick: This book looks like a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see what type of messed up craziness happens in this hospital’s secret ward. I stopped watching Gray’s Anatomy and House awhile ago so I’m itching for some wacky hospital antics in any form. I haven’t checked but this could be a start of a series which would be pretty neat and defiantly doable.   #9 Ripper by Amy Carol Reeves

Why it’s a Paranormal Pick:  I’ve always had a morbid curiosity about the real Jack the Ripper case.  It’s this open ended unsolved murder mystery that no one has closed and because of that it makes the story so creepy feeling.  I like seeing people’s theories on just who or even what Jack the Ripper was, and RIPPER sounds like the answer to that decades old question will be darkly complex. #8 The Iron Wyrm Affair (Bannon & Clare #1 ) by Lilith Saintcrow

This looks like The Avengers/Sherlock Holmes with an added paranormal flair which sounds like a pretty cool concept. I am also a sucker for alternate histories so I want to see what this author decides to do with magic affecting the Industrial Revolution. Hopefully like The Avengers and Sherlock Holmes they get into many fun and dangerous situations.

Why it’s a Paranormal Pick:  I actually spent the week of Thanksgiving  reading the first few books of The Psy-Changling series which I had skipped for no good reason. Then I decided to just skim through all of the really good bits of the books I already had read. What I’m saying is I really enjoy this series. It’s isn’t as dark as the Guild Hunter series but it’s just as intricate and sexy.  I love learning about the emotionless Psy and their increasingly dangerous motives. Also, I don’t think there is one character that I don’t like in this series. I look forward to getting to know two more characters and seeing the growing conflict between Psy and Changlings in this book.  #5 Fair Game (Alpha & Omega #3) by Patricia Briggs

Why it’s a Paranormal Pick: As with most of Patricia Briggs’ books, I fell in love with these characters and Briggs’ take on werewolf mythology in the Alpha and Omega series. The concept of the Omega wolf was really interesting to me and I am enjoying following Anna’s character growth as she learns about being an Omega werewolf.  I am excited to see what is in store for Anna and Charles in this book. #4 Timeless (The Parasol Protectorate, #5) by Gail Carriger

Why it’s a Paranormal Pick:  I adore the angel mythology in this series which helps to feed my slight fascination with angels that I’ve had since I was very young.  The imagery in each book is wonderful and the characters are all compelling, beautiful, and awesome in so many ways.  The Guild Hunter series is dark and sexy with plots that twist and turn and make for great stories. I am excited to dip back into this world with this book.  #2 By a Thread (Elemental Assassin, #6) by Jennifer EstepReceived for review

Why it’s a Paranormal Pick: Since this series is what got me started on the urban fantasy genre, I decided make the last book of the Otherworld series my number one pick regardless of having no description .  It’s been a wonderful ride filled with amazing mythology and engaging characters.  Hopefully this book is truly as ‘epic’ as the book’s cover says it will be. I’ve enjoyed reading each book and will be looking forward to reading more stories by Kelley Armstrong in the future.  I may have to read this one really really slowly to make it last longer though…
