This Thursday evening, the Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, was welcoming half of the legendary band Oasis: Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds. And guess who was front row? ;) After a tumultous career in Oasis, Noel Gallagher has launched a solo career with a first album that was very well received by the Belgian audience. The concert, sold out, of course, brought together many young fans but also families who were probably trying to show their kids that rock is still alive and kicking! The first act was The Electric Soft Parade, a band orignating from brighton. Not really my style to be honest. At 8:45pm sharp, Mr Gallagher and his High Flying Birds took the stage with It’s Good To Be Free. The concert that lasted almost 2h mixed hits from Oasis as well as tracks from the new album. The whole performance was very professional from start to finish with very little room for improvisation. But Noel is no Mika! He rarely talks except for a “thank you” or to have a go at a fan who kept shouting for him to sing Wonderwall. Like he said so well: “Fuck off, I am gonna sing it anyway, you can stop stressing.” At 40 you still can be a rebel! The evening ended with Don’t Look Back in Anger sung with the audience. If the High Flying Birds are in your area, I highly recommend you to get tickets!
