We woke up in the inside passage. Since it was still early I went for a run on the bridge. As expected there was a mix of walkers and jogger which meant I had to avoid obstacles at times. But what a joy to run in the cool air, I had no problem pushing my muscles farther which got me a few comments like "silver bullet" or "Oh good you're done, I was starting to get dizzy watching you". Mind you with 6 laps for a mile I had to take a few turns. But how could I not smile with such a beautiful landscape and the sea breeze caressing my skin?
We had a balcony again, we thought we would be disapointed as we were on portside and cruising to the north we expected to only see the ocean. We forgot about all the island along the coast so we ended up really enjoying it.
The pool while heated did not attract as many people as the one on the Mexican cruise.
The Radiance of the Seas is a smaller cruise ship, with less public spaces to gather. We missed the promenade from the last cruise but there was still plenty to do.
From our balcony we saw the departure and arrival of the pilots. Since the Exxon Valdez accident, Canada and Alsaka require large ships to have with them a local experienced pilot. It takes 5 years to be trained and a DIU (driving under the influcence) will get you kicked out. It was impressive to see them come on board or leave while we were cruising.
The day was chill. We did a little climbing on the climbing wall of the boat. Then all we had left to do was get ready for the formal night where I got to hang out with my niece and nephew.
It so happened that the first day at sea was also Hubby's birthday. It worked out perfectly since we were all dressed up to eat at the cruise ship's restaurant.
The team brought a slice of cake with a candle for Hubby
But the biggest surprise is when we went back to our cabin, ...
and when we opened the door.
So we felt like we were having a party in our cabin during the entire cruise.
