Sao Paulo’s techno titan returns. Gui Boratto needs little introduction - after all he’s played pretty much every corner of the globe, placing himself as one of the most in-demand producers and performers in dance music today. It’s summer and Kompakt’s bomb for the season is about to explode. Just in time for his extensive European tour throughout July. Indeed, he will be soon for instance in Paris @ Showcase on the 13th of July with Robert Babicz. More precisely the review is about his new EP “The drill” that will be released under the German imprint Kompakt Records soon.
GUI BORATTO – THE DRILL EP
“The drill” embraces the classic Kompakt “shaffel” but delivered in a chalice of class that only Gui Boratto is capable of drinking from. It is also available of the new compilation of the german imprint CD “Total 12”. A roaring bass line that sways side to side in layers of euphoric harmony. 3 Bs. Bold – brazen. Boratto.
“Stems from hell” is classic Boratto. Guitar-esque chording launches this depth charge that is just pure build. Tension and release – you sense this track can almost breath on it’s own. The moments are near perfect in this swelling that reaches a fever pitch right when you think it would never come.

"Stems from hell" est un titre classique de Gui Boratto. Guitare-esque avec de bonnes cordes, dans une charge musicale profonde, donnant naissance à une solide production. On ressent dans ce titre une certaine tension, on a même le sentiment que cette piste pourrait presque respirer d’elle-même. Les moments sont presque parfaits dans ce grondement qui atteint son paroxysme au moment où l’on ne s’y attend pas.
