Lu Cong est un artiste américain. Né à Shanghai en 1978, il a immigré aux Etats Unis avec ses parents en 1989. Son œuvre tourne autour du portrait dans lequel il rend hommage au romantisme du 18ème siècle. Il se dégage de ses visages essentiellement féminins une certaine sensualité mélée à un sentiment d’étrangeté. Dans ses peinture à l’huile, les personnages apparaissent comme figés dans une expression, telles des poupées de cire, à la fois si réelles et pourtant si inaccessibles, envoutantes et terrifiantes.
