Or as the Piou would say a "Red Cross Package". Yesterday I received two packages in the mail. One from my Mom and one from my Dad, sent from two differents cities at two different dates and yet they arrived the same day in my mailbox. What are the odds? Did those packages travel together?
We got spoiled, I received a beret, small decorative snow shoes, a heart in natural fibers from my Mom. A chocolat bouquet from L'Atelier du Chocolat de Bayonne that I tried to hide from Hubby-failed I wasn't very discreet when I spoted the chocolate-, little Christmas goodies and from his girlfriend pretty papers to create pretty things.
But that's not it, my Mom also sent me little porcelain figurines that go in the King's Cake.
It came with perfect timing since I had just put this in the oven.
Hence after pre-cutting the King's Cake I exchanged the pecan by the real porcelain figurine and brought it to work. After all it's "only" been 365 days that my supervisor has been begging for a King's Cake. Every time I tell her "No it's only for the Epiphany"...
PS: For the expat, the pecan is a good option. It keeps its consistancy fairly well when cooked in the cake. The only issue is that it's easy to cut through it when cutting a slice and therefore to end up with two "fèves".
