I had never heard before of The Japanese Popstars band, until the discovery a few days ago of their video for their electro-rock track "Let Go". The clip that you can watch in the following article features the techno artist Green Velvet on vocals, best known for his techno anthem "La la land". This track has been created over an intensive 20 day period in September 2010 and has been published under Virgin Records. It follows their latest EP "Destroy EP".

The Japanese Popstars is a trio that comes from Derry, Northern Ireland. It consists of Declan McLaughlin (Decky Hedrock), Gary Curran and Gareth Donoghue. They won numerous international awards as "Best Live Act" for the Irish Music Awards 2010, and the "Best House DJ" at the World Urban Music Awards in 2006. Moreover, they are known through their remixes of Cagedbaby "16 Lovers", Groove Armada vs. The Japanese Popstars "Get Down" on Strictly Rhythm or Tong & Spoon “Gas Face” on Televizion.

If the music is quite effective, evolving in an electro and pop atmosphere, I share with you this review mostly because of the realization of the clip. It is clean and consists of psychedelic animations. Directed by David Wilson, it was produced by Serena Noorani and Tamsin Glasson from Colonel Blimp (www.colonelblimp.com)

Pour tout vous avouer je n’avais jamais entendu parler du groupe The Japanese Popstars, jusqu’à la découverte il y a quelques jours de leur clip pour leur track électro rock “Let go”. Le clip visible dans la suite de l’article est en featuring avec l’artiste techno Green Velvet, notamment connu pour son hymne technoïde « La la land ». Ce track produit courant Septembre, après une période intense de travail d’une vingtaine de jours et publié sous le label Virgin Records, fait suite à leur dernier EP « Destroy EP ».
