CINEMA: Bulle FFCF 2010 #3 - My Dear Festival

2ème jour du festival et toujours autant de plaisir à découvrir de nouveaux films coréens !

Après un blockbuster local en film d'ouverture, "The Man from Nowhere" ("아저씨", 2010) de LEE Jeong-beom et ses 7 millions de spectateurs en Corée du Sud depuis le mois d'août (cf. CINEMA: Bulle FFCF 2010 #2 - Petit traité du capitalisme d'épouvante), la journée était tout d'abord placée sous le signe des révisions avec la découverte des premiers court-métrages de deux grands cinéastes coréens : BONG Joon-ho ("Memories of Murder", "The Host") et NA Hong-jin ("The Chaser"). Et quel plaisir de remarquer que le style des deux réalisateurs était présent dès leur début :
- dénonciation acerbe de la société chez BONG Joon-ho à travers un court métrage qui reprend le thème de Bonnie and Clyde en le filmant par des caméras de surveillance ("Influenza", 2004) et un autre traitant de l'hypocrisie de la classe dominante avec une image très glamour ("Incoherence", 1994) ;
- mise en scène stylisée à l'extrême chez NA Hong-jin à travers un court métrage sur un cuistot trop perfectionniste ("A Perfect Red Snapper Dish", 2005) et un autre plus abstrait où sueur, vapeur et sang se succèdent ("Sweat", 2007).

Dans la section des long métrages, c'est le film "My Dear Enemy" ("멋진 하루", 2008) de Lee Yoon-ki que l'on a pu apprécier. Le film commence comme une comédie à l'américaine - souligné par la musique du film très jazzy - où un personnage est obligé de faire équipe avec la personne qu'il déteste le plus. Ici, c'est la jeune Hee-soo (Jeon Do-yeon) qui doit reprendre contact avec son ex, Byoung-woon (Ha Jeong-woo), pour récupérer les 3500 dollars qu’elle lui avait prêtés il y a un an. Il ne faut pas trop se fier à la bande annonce du film plutôt ratée car c'est à une succession de scènes hilarantes et tristes entre les deux personnages que l'on assiste. Tout au long du film et de surprise en surprise, les deux comédiens principaux et les personnages secondaires sont vraiment épatants !

After a local blockbuster movie opening, "This Man" ("아저씨", 2010) by Lee Jeong-beom and its 7 million viewers in South Korea since last August (see CINEMA: Bulle FFCF 2010 # 2 - Short treaty on horror capitalism), the day was first placed under the sign of revisions with the discovery of the first short films from two major Korean filmmakers: BONG Joon-ho ("Memories of Murder", "The Host ") and NA Hong-jin ("The Chaser "). And what a pleasure to note that the style of the two directors was present at their inception:
- scathing denunciation of society with BONG Joon-ho through a short film that takes up the theme of Bonnie and Clyde shooting by CCTV ("Influenza", 2004) and another dealing with the hypocrisy of the Establishment with a glamorous image ("Incoherence", 1994);
- extremely stylized direction with NA Hong-jin through a short film about a too perfectionist chef ("A Perfect Red Snapper Dish", 2005) and a more abstract one where sweat, steam and blood succeed themselves ("Sweat", 2007).

In the section of feature films, it is the movie "My Dear Enemy" ("멋진 하루", 2008) by Lee Yoon-ki that we could appreciate. The film begins as an American comedy - highlighted by the jazzy music of the film - when a character is forced to team up with the person she hates most. Here, the young Hee-soo (Jeon Do-yeon) must reconnect with her ex, Byoung-woon (Ha Jeong-woo), to recover $ 3,500 she had lent him a year ago. We should not place undue reliance on the failed trailer of the movie because it is rather a succession of hilarious and sad scenes between two characters that we are witnessing. Throughout the movie, and from surprise to surprise, the two main actors and the secondary characters are really amazing!
Thus some films and a festival still to discover. Enjoy!
