EUROPA 2010 Latvian stamps
Un court message pour partager avec vous cette jolie lettre postée le 23 septembre 2010 de la capitale lettone, Riga (à noter la netteté des 2 timbres à date !).

Ces 2 timbres (0,55 et 1,20 lats), avec chacun une partie de leur marge, émis le 9 avril 2010, constituent la série EUROPA de la poste lettone, ayant pour thème les livres pour enfants ("Bērnu grāmatas" en letton) cette année.
A short post today to share with you this nice cover mailed on September 23, 2010 from the Latvian capital, Riga (to note the sharpness of the two postmarks !).

These two stamps (0.55 and 1.20 Lats), with each a part of their margin, issued on April 9, 2010, are constituting the EUROPA set by the Latvian Post devoted to children's books ("Bērnu grāmatas" in Latvian) this year.
Ces 2 timbres, conçus par Arta Ozola Jaunarāja, évoquent l'imagination et le rêve que vivent un garçon et une fille à travers la lecture de livres et contes pour enfants. La jeune fille rencontre ainsi Merlin l'enchanteur et une princesse (le belle au bois dormant ?) ainsi qu'un lutin et un hérisson lisant des livres :-)
A noter que l'enveloppe utilisée par Juris est une enveloppe "1er jour" consacrée à une autre émission EUROPA émise les précédentes années (quand exactement ?). La carte de l'Europe figurant à gauche comporte en tout cas quelques erreurs (Tchécoslovaquie, Yougoslavie...).
These two stamps, designed by Arta Ozola Jaunarāja, evoke the imagination and dream that a boy and a girl are living through reading books and fairy tales. The young girl is indeed meeting Merlin and a princess (the Sleeping Beauty ?) but also an elf and a hedgehog reading books :-)
To note that the envelope used by Juris is a FDC devoted to another EUROPA set issued in previous years (when exactly ?). The map of Europe featured on the left includes anyway some mistakes (Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia...).
