ROCK / THE SALVAGERS (Autralie - Sydney)
By Morgan
What began as a hobby for four friends from high school soon spiraled into a musical obsession. The band spent time touring Australia and writing songs in a wide range of styles varying from punk rock to electronica. The Salvagers worked with producer Lee Groves for their debut release, the Die Pretty EP in 2009.
The EP garnered positive reviews, noting creative songwriting and thoughtful lyrics, however the release fell largely upon deaf ears. Listeners were left confused, the disc's eclectic song selection made it hard for the band to claim a sound of their own.
The Salvagers second offering, the forthcoming "Young Bones EP" is poised to leave any doubts behind.
The band have continued to write and have set out to focus their sound, taking influence from a more time honoured catalogue of music.
Whilst keeping a forward thinking mindset, The Salvagers have introduced flavours of INXS, Bruce Springsteen and Oasis to their sound, resulting in an explosive release, teeming with stories of life, uncertainty and yearning.
The Young Bones EP is set for release in 2011
