Ma Nouvelle Carte Verte Est Verte

My New Green Card is Green
La carte de résident permanent n’était récemment pas verte, enfin le dos l’était mais c'est tout. A ce demander pourquoi on les appelle cartes vertes. Je pense que le surnom viens des anciennes cartes vertes telles que celle ci-dessous. Mais depuis Mai, une nouvelle version est entrée en circulation et le devant est vert.
The Permanent Resident Card until recently was not green, well the back was but that's it. It makes one wonder why they call it a Green Card. I guess the nickname comes from former Green Cards like the one below. But since May a new card is being produced and the front is green.
J'ai recu ma nouvelle carte Samedi, le jour meme ou l'ancienne expirait. Le processus a donc pris moins de 3 mois. Impressionant quand on pense qu'il m'a fallu 1 an pile pour avoir l'entretien de la premiere carte verte.
Je suis donc libre de vivre aux USA pendant 10 ans. Si je dois vivre à l'exterieur des USA pour plus d'un an il me faudra demander une permission et a partir d'Avril 2011 je peux demander la nationalité Americaine si je le décide.
Bon et cette nouvelle carte verte elle ressemble a quoi? Je vous laisse admirer les photos fournies par USCIS. On peut voir a l'arriere l'ancienne version et en grand devant la nouvelle. Il y a plein de nouveaux ajouts techniques qui sont sensés aider a éviter les fraudes: empreintes, images holographiques, frequence radio integrée, etc.
Moi je l'aime beaucoup elle est bien plus chouette que l'ancienne, en plus elle est verte et au dos en tout petit j'ai meme Obama (sachant que la carte est de la meme taille qu'une carte de crédit je vous laisse imaginer la taille des tetes de présidents).
I received my new Green Card Saturday, the same day the old one expired. The processus took less than 3 months. Quite impressive when you think that it took me 1 year exactly to get the interview for the first Green Card.
I'm now free to live in the US for 10 years. If I have to leave the country for more than 1 year I need to ask for a special authorization and starting April 2011 I'll be eligible to apply for citizenship if I decide to.
So what does the new Green Card look like? I'll let you admire the pictures from USCIS. You can see the former version in the back and the new one larger in the front. There are all sort of new technical additions to it which are meant to help lower frauds: fingerprints, holographic images, radio frequency embedded, etc.
I really like it, I think it's nice than the old one, not to mention that it's Green and that I have a tiny Obama in the back of it (knowing that the Green Card is the size of a credit card, I'll let you think how tiny the presidents heads are).
