Since I live in the USA, every summer I hear about S'mores. The firecamp snack, the sweet dessert of marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers.
For four years I've been hearing about it without being able to taste it. Every time I would say that someone would be like "Oh my Gog, you never tasted it? I can't believe it!". It's a real tradition here, I even once found a S'more recipe book.
But I finally tried the thing Friday night. It was good but very sweet. I think next time I'll try with dark chocolate. I loved the texture though with the mix of the melted and caramelized marshmallow with the crunchy cookie.
So how do you make them?
You need Graham Crakers.
Marshmallows (we use fish gelatin based ones since Hubby is pescatarian).
Chocolate: take your pick on the flavor and type of chocolate.
Then you need a firecamp. Now I'm familiar with roasted marshmallows. A stick, two marshmallows stuck on it and roasted on the ambers (and not the flame).
Now you have to be a team to make those and prepare the graham cracker with a piece of chocolate on it before roasting the marshmallow.
When the marshmallows are about to fall of the stick (or almost), your helper will have to hand you the biscuits, open with chocolate at the borrom. Place the marshmallow still on the stick on top of the chocolate, the other person will then press the marshmallow in the biscuit so the stick can be pulled.
The idea is that the hot marshmallow will melt the chocolate.
Then all that's left to do is enjoy it.
Have you tried S'mores before?
