Donc le maître d'ouvrage a creusé un espace a l'arrière, suite a ca il a amené plus de terre depuis les cotes et le devant de la maison qu'il a étalé.
So the contractor dug a space in the back, then he brought in dirt from the side and front of the house that he spread out.
Under Hubby's request he also pushed down the concrete pieces from the former parking space and broke them down in smaller pieces. We had a good pile of it.
Hubby started to rake this to get the dirt leveled.
On the slop we sowed grass seeds then covered it with some sort of biodegradable carpet to help keep humidity in the ground but also avoid that the seeds fly away or get eaten by birds.
We then used the concrete pieces to make a dry wall so as to hold the ground in place.
May 23rd the seed were all sowed, Hubby is watering them and the wall is almost finished. Later on we found other pieces of concrete on the other side of our street to finish it.
The biggest piece of concrete was left alone and set in the middle to hold the fire pit. Short term we would like to spread mulch on the ground, long term get rock pavers.
In three weeks the grass grew nicely and Hubby already prepared some wood. It's black walnut wood coming from the neighbor's tree that fell in our yard last year
One of the space I love is this little corner that came by accident. Indeed under the cement pile we found this piece that had not been broken. Too big to be moved we decided to transform it into a step. So Hubby also created raised beds around it for me in which I planted lilies that were growing across the road and sowed wild flower seeds. On the left to make an edge to the raised beds I put decorative plants (pensee, snapdragon and a silver plant).
Little by little we will also put in the wall plants that require little dirt like the one below.
And to finish I created a garden bed along the fence with the neighbors. I got a bunch of free plants that I put there instead of the weed. To finish it of I went to the back of our yard where we found a pile of old broken bricks and rocks and used them to delimit the beds. Not only did I get to reused abandoned products but I'm really happy with the result and smile every time I look at my flower beds from the house.
I'm going to add a few ground cover plants to it and I'll be done.
We're not the only ones loving our yard since we had the visit of a blue jay couple making their nest.
And my favorite: a chipmunk family. We think they found shelter in the wall. I spent 10 minutes looking at them from the bathroom window the other day. They're so cute!
