C’est ainsi que le groupe déçoit une première fois avec “Spectres” (# 43 US), publié en Octobre 1977 et produit par Blue Oyster Cult, Sandy Pearlman, Murray Krugman & David Lucas.

Malgré leurs efforts, “Godzilla” ne sera pas le successeur de “don’t fear the reaper”, mais “Spectres” malgré ses défauts, possède malgré tout quelques grands titres comme “Celestial the Queen”, “I love the night” et “Nosferatu”.

Quant à “RU ready 2 rock”, malgré son côté hymne rock FM énervant, il reste un classique des concerts du groupe.
