Malgré les critiques de l’album précédent, le groupe s’enfonce dans le rock FM avec ce nouvel album vraiment décevant, produit par Tom Werman, qui gomme les aspérités du groupe, leur retirant leur mordant avec un son beaucoup trop propre et aseptisé.

Le single “In Thee” n’atteint que la 74e place des charts US.

“the great sun jester” est une première collaboration avec l’auteur d’heroic-fantasy Michael Moorcock.
