Ultima Online is a 2D isometric MMO RPG based on the Ultima series of single player RPGs. It is set in the same world (Britannia) and features some of the recurring characters (Lord British, Lord Blackthorn).
Lord of Ultima is a 2D isometric MMO strategy game similar to the ‘Settlers’ series. It follows the Ultima games featuring some references as the ‘Trinsic Temple’ structure and the ‘Moonglow Tower’. It is completely unrelated in terms of gameplay, but it is a new part of the Ultima universe. This new land in which Lord of Ultima exists is set in a time after Sosaria has been destroyed and a new land has arisen: Caledonia.
Now, only time will tell how Caledonia relates to the various other lands that spawned when the Gem of Immortality was broken and its shards spread.
