Throughout the cruise, we received every night two pages of information regarding on board activities, opening hours and shows.
That's how we found out about the belly flop competition. Yes you heard me, those belly flops that do big splashes when you fall on the water belly first. It seems that it was The Event of the cruise given the number of people there.
And belly flops we saw. Five ladies in the public were assigned to vote for the points.
In the end the competitors even offered us a group belly flop.
Well personally I thought it was more a "who has the biggest belly" competition. With Hubby we mainly wondered if that was the person who ordered 12 lobsters for dinner the previous evening.
It mainly made me want to do sports and eat healthy.
We also tried out the climbing wall, briefy, and to recuperate from the day, we went out for drinks on the promenade. There we enjoyed the view of the people passing by all dressed up for the second formal dinner.
Among others the Red Hat Ladies.
Hubby, his mom and older sister, thanks to the japanese ancesters they all look like they are 10 years younger than their real age.
A 1980's music show where I fell asleep. It seems that at every singing show I go visit the carebear's land.
That evening in our stateroom we found a gorilla, decorated with the medal I had for being last (two out of two) at the climing wall at sea.
The next day we went to listen to the Captain and were able to ask a few questions. It was interesting. It was also the day of the earthquake in Chile. The Captain assured us that the best place was at sea in case of a tsunami. Indeed it went below us and we didn't feel a thing. Even the crew didn't know exactly at what time it did. Hubby's parents were worried about the tsunami alert in Hawaii (their home), thankfully the tsunami ended up being only a small three feet wave
We enjoyed a beautiful and last sunset at sea.
The wind was strong, as demonstrated by my dear husband.
We then joined the goodbye show with many of the crew members.
And found a bulldog? Cat? in our bedroom.
Meanwhile the majority of the passengers placed their luggage outside their cabin. They wouldn't see them again until the dock. We choose the express check out that allowed us to transport our own luggage and take the bus to the airport faster.
Je me suis trouvée bien bête.
Early in the morning I had to go wait in line with all the non americans to go say hi to my friends from Immigration. We then had a good breakfast and unboarded the boat.
Here is wher the passengers pick up their luggage. I almost had a problem because security asked me why I took that pictures and all. I felt stupid. But I told them I just thought it was cool and they let me through.
Then we got scremed at for not crossing at the right place, after that I told Hubby to lead the way. We took the bus and said goodbye to the Mariner.
On the way I discovered that the mountains were far closer to L.A. than I imagined.
Goodbye West Cost!
In the end it was a beautiful trip that made us want to go back to Mexico and discover its hidden gems. It went well with his family, we found his sister good, in shape and it made us happy. No issues with his parents, with each our own schedules and meeting for dinner only there was no issue but also little sharing.
But not all is lost as they are talking about coming to North Carolina...
