ESPN Radio will broadcast live coverage throughout the United States of all 64 matches from the 2010 Fifa World Cup in South Africa.
This is the first time the network, formed in 1992, has aired coverage of soccer. The live broadcasts will feature a commentary team led by veteran ESPN telecast commentators JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smyth, and will be complemented by a daily hour-long round-up show, FIFA World Cup Soccer Special. Dellacamera and Smyth will commentate on the early rounds from the ESPN studios in Conneticut before travelling to South Africa for games from the quarter-finals onwards. At least 13 key matches will be broadcast on ESPN Radio’s national channel, including the USA’s group fixtures, the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final. Affiliates will distribute the remaining games separately. [Via]
