In 2003 the great multi-tasting artist Leni Riefenstahl died after 101 years of total dedication to dancing, photography, acting and perhaps most notably, film making. Unfortunately, she was cursed by mainstream medias from 1945 owards for her supposed implication in the Nazi frolic. It is indeed true that she produced infamous proganda movies for the regime, but as she specified in her memoirs, it was only for the higher purpose of pure beauty. Riefenstahls art was in truth never political at all but focused solely on aesthetics.
Every movie and picture Leni ever shot carries both strengh and balance, like the Greek and Roman temples of the old. Her art is in my humble opinion an ode to life in its most beautiful and pure form, both a symphony of dynamics and a genuine portait of nature's perfect balance. Yes Leni served evil and may well have allowed the national-socialist devil to slither in her bed, but she did it wonderfully, never forgetting to sacrifice to the demanding altar of art.
