Kool Kiss # 32 : Sara Schiralli

After I saw Sara Schiralli at the last Nuits Zebrées I couldn't stop humming "Paranoid" for days. As most of the audience, I'm sure: her songs are heady, but fresh at the same time. It was her very first gig in Paris, and she really warmed up the audience, despite her being sick. Our only regret : she didn't sing "need for feeding". Fortunately we'll be able to hear it soon since her album is released in France in January. The occasion for us to post this interview, and to wish her good luck for what's to come!
Sara, can you briefly introduce yourself ?
I'm a singer songwriter from London ... I'm half Italian half British ...
What are your influences ?
I love music so am inspired by all types but not really mainstream pop.. although I find melody really fascinating and fun to play with. I started with an obsessive relationship with The Beatles cause my auntie was the head of the very first fan club in Monmouth Street in London ... before I was born...so my mum became a fan and i grew up listening to their music.. later on Bob Dylan as clever lyrics are my passion... and Leonard Cohen...and many artists out there now the list goes on and on...

Ah ah, what is kool about me ? Well... I have never thought about me like this really... But I guess my frankness, and my ability to trust my instinct, under challenging circumstances.
What is Kiss about Sara Schiralli ?
Ah ah another one thats tough to answer ... Ummm I like hugs that go on forever...
How do you compose and how much love is important in your songs ?
I compose at home by myself with an idea and my voice my guitar ususally... but now I have started using keyboards and weird instruments. Then take the idea to a producer and in the studio I build the song. I usually have a very clear vision for my songs... its a weird type of conviction that doesnt let go until I have executed it . Of course I have to have love there... If my head is chaotic with too much thought and not enough love I can't work...
What makes you paranoid ?
What makes me paranoid is romantic love...
I hope im getting better... I'm working on it with the next record.
What did you think of your very first French gig ? Do you plan on coming back any time soon ?
My first french gig was amazing ! I can't wait to come back !
Yes early next year i will be back, I feel like the french have discovered my music.
That's why I want to release in france first.
What's you best memory on stage ?
My best memeory is Radio Nova gig, even though I had a very bad cold I really enjoyed it.
