The increasing interdependence between Russia and Central-Western Europe added to the consolidation of the Russian Influence area, is seen by the United States like a potential threat.
The map illustrates the ways in which the new American presidential administration will have to strike up relationships with Europe. The most worrying element is the increasing Russian influence in the "old continent" because of its role as major gas supplier to the European countries. Putin and Medvedev are elaborating a plan called "Russia Project" aiming to reintegrate some territories in the Russian Federation and the creation of a Russian Union. Russia can rely on a "Friendly Club" led by Germany. In order to face this strategical threat, the United States can rely for support on the enemies of EuRussia notably Great Britain and some of the baltic nations.
