Zoom sur une icône du design, la Chair One.
Des lames d’aluminium reliées entre elles, tressant la structure 3D géométrique de la One Chair constituent cette assise unique imaginée par Konstantin Grcic pour Magis en 2004. Le modèle Concrete Base, modèle à pietement en pierre massif est particulièrement remarquable, un mélange brut métallique et minéral et pourtant contrasté entre une structure treillis fine, aérée et une base massive et lourde. La chaise a été déclinée en tabouret de bar, chaise à pied, chaise de bureau avec roulettes.
hair_ONE is constructed just like a football: a number of flat planes assembled at angles to each other, creating the three-dimensional form. I think my approach was a mixture of naivety and bluntness. Given the chance to work with aluminium casting I thought that I should take it all the way. The more we worked on the models the more we learnt to understand the structural logic behind what we were doing. What began as a simple sketch, a series of cardboard models, prototypes, is now a real chair.
