“SkyRoom” 3D-video-conferencing

Hewlett-Packard has developed a new collaborative software,  designed to allow stakeholders to communicate and share information with three-dimensional images in support. Called “Skyroom” This “Visual collaboration” software was presented last week at a conference on the manufacturer in Los Angeles.

This new video-conferencing combines several technologies made in HP , namely the Halo telepresence solution, a solution for collaboration from person to person, and  Remote Graphics Software (RGS), enabling users to access 3D images and files like rich media, from a remote workstation, and then share with their colleagues.

The American manufacturer affirms that Skyroom is compatible with any system, not only with the technologies developed by HP. However, the IT firm did not reveal yet technical specificities of this new collaboration tool, nor even its selling price or its date of availability.

Jim Zafarana, Vice-President of the Workstation Global Business division at HP, has indicated that this product is still in beta and it was being currently tested by some customers of the manufacturer.

Present at the conference in Los Angeles, Guillaume Jacquemin, head of IS IT team of Renault F1 team, explained that the tool video-conferencing Skyroom 3D could be very interesting for the car manufacturer: it would allow his French and British teams to communicate more effectively.
