Nous avons interviewé avec Alboon, mon compère de Streetkiss Music, deux membres de Cazals : Warren et Daniel pour votre plus grand plaisir !
As a british rock band, how does it feel to be signed on Kitsuné ? It turned out that they're also looking for new music styles, espacially with the new collection entitled "The Melodic One" ?
W: Kitsune were the only label willing to give us the creative control we needed to make the album. The fact that they had never been apart of a project anything like us before is testament to the faith they've shown in us. In signing to Kitsune we have to forfeit the luxuries that a major label would give us such as tour support and mass advertising budget for the knowledge that our label has a genuine like and total trust in what we do.
What are your connections with the parisian scene ?
D: André and Kitsune are our connections, every time we go to Paris they take very good care of us. We've had some cool shows where SebastiAn and Kavinsky have shown up to say hello and that sort of thing but we're not part really part of the dance or indie scene there.
Do you all share the same influences ?
W: There's a huge cross section of things that the five of us would call influences but a few things that we have in common would probably be Daft Punk, The Strokes and maybe Talking Heads.
D: Not really, Luca is into pretty much everything, Phil likes Ultravox, Warren; The Beatles, Martin likes obscure recordings of dying swans and I like the sound of myself.
What's your most amazing story during a concert you were playing at ?
W: When we were supporting Daft Punk in Japan, Phil jumped off stage into the pit during an instrumental break of a song only to realise that there is no way to get back onstage as he's 20 feet below us. I just saw his head popping up every so often as he tried to climb back over the speakers while we were being watched by thousands of people, that was pretty amazing.
As a bloggers crew, we are interested in your opinion about the way music is now broadcast over the internet ? Do your read blogs ?
D: I think it's fantastic that any musician / artist can spread their music on the internet from pretty much anywhere in the world and find fans and like minded ears across the globe, sorry if that's a bit of a Coca Cola answer. I do read blogs probably my favourite is asianmandan.com because we have similar taste in music.
What's the part of love in your inspiration, your music and your way of living ?
D: It's intrinsic to all three, being in love or falling out of love are the most common reasons behind songwriting, the emotions are so strong that they inspire people to write about them.
The "Kiss in Concert Question" : How would you feel about someone kissing you as you're playing on stage ?
W: Depends on the kisser?
D: As long as they watch we're they're going it's fine, the amount of times people have come on stage during our gigs and knocked drums over or pulled guitar leads out just so they could be onstage, sorry that's not very romantic.
To conclude, your lastest release is called "What about our future" ... so what's your future ? what about ending like the rolling stones and still play together at the age of 60 ?
W: I feel too old for this now so another 30 odd years will just be too much.
D: I'm not too sure all of us will be alive at 60. The reason why we named the album that is because we have no idea what our future has in store for us, nothing is ever certain for Cazals.
