L'Université de Sheffield, pour son département de l'enseignement de la musique possède dorénavant la Soundhouse. Le concept conçu par Carey Jones Architects et livrés par Jefferson Sheard Architects est tout à fait étonnant. Le bâtiment, qui prévoit la répétition et l'enregistrement pour les étudiants en musique, est entièrement vêtu d'un isolant phonique noir en caoutchouc pour empêcher l'entrée ou le bruit d'échapper de la construction. Une membrane en double peau style capiton qui répond aussi bien aux exigences acoustiques qu'esthétiques. Une maison capitonnée à l'effet haute-couture très réussie.
''The University of Sheffield, for his department of music education has now the SOUNDHOUSE. The concept designed by Carey Jones Architects and delivered by Jefferson Sheard Architects is quite surprising.
